Rajasthan has artistic and cultural traditions which reflect the ancient Indian way of life.
Rajasthan was also called Rajputana (the country of the Rajputs). The name actaully means “the abode of the kings”.This historical state of India attracts tourists and vacationers with its rich culture, tradition, heritage, and monuments.
I was commissioned by Mana Hotels ( Sheevam Group of Industries ) directors to start a journey and document certain areas and cultural aspects within the state towards a book they always dreamt to publish. I would like to hold the actual focus of the book till it is released and hold its curiosty. The book is expected in the next few months.
The state all year round is highly festive and holds its culture and tradition in high importance. Surrounded by the Thar desert, also known as the great Indian desert, the state is very popular for it’s camels, colourfully dressed men and women, dance forms and its rich royal food. The people of Rajasthan are known for their culture which is nearly 5000 years old. It is a blend of tradition and history with the present contemporary lifestyle. They have a varied custom and tradition and a diverse population, which adds to the embellishment of their cultures. The cultural heritage of the Rajasthani people is influenced by its folk music, dances, textiles, palaces and their divinely holy places of worship. All this together gives a vibrant pictures of the culture within the western Indian state
I have spent many months traveling this most vibrant state, meeting many fantastic people, getting to explore and understand the cultures, spaces and food. My journey of documenting for the book, was like living in the most colourful, beautiful and unforgettable dream project I shall always cherish.
