Teaching Criticism in the ClassroomWorkshops are limited to 10 participants. This workshop on the teaching of criticsm engages three parallel sets of issues: (a) teaching students to think and write critically; (b) teaching the history of criticism of photography (for this we'll use examples of important writings about photography by Emerson, Moholy-Nagy, myself, and several others, discussing the pedagogical issues involved in contextualizing these with students); (c) understanding the relationship between hermeneutics and exegetics, between theory and practice, and other dialectical issues. ** Workshop meetings are 90 min. in length with interaction during the week. Information for accessing the workshop will be sent to completed registrations. This workshop is part of the VASA Certificate: Teaching Photography More information email: workshop@vasa-project.com
